Dear Readers, As you know, I had a wonderful three days in Canyon Ranch. And while there, I had an epiphany. A germ of an idea I have been thinking of long before it became something I knew I really wanted to pursue. I will let you in on all the details as soon as I have them formulated. For this reason, I'm going to be posting my blog every two weeks, freeing me up to continue down this new path. By the way, I intend to drag you all on this exciting new adventure with me. Of course it starts very slowly. First, you can’t find your keys, sunglasses or phone. Pretty soon you are forgetting what time you are supposed to be someplace. Then you forget where you wrote it down. (Yes, I am still writing things down). Then you might show up at a Dr.’s appointment at the wrong day or month, (I’ve done that too). The list goes on and on. We’ve all been there. It gets more and more embarrassing as the months and years go by. Cut to: My husband and I were discussing if we could justify going back to Capri one more time! Should we use up the funds, the strength, the fortitude? It was a big question in our minds. I came home one day and said, “I know why we should go back to Capri.” “Okay,” he said, “Tell me why.” “Well, this October, we are going to be married twenty five years, and to celebrate we’ll go to Capri in June! What do you think?” I asked. “I love it,” he said, and we were off on a round of getting flights, hotels etc. No easy feat! We deserved it. We had a reason. All was cool! I told my daughter one day about our upcoming celebration in Capri this June and she thought it was terrific we were going back, but she said, “Just so you know, your twenty fifth wedding anniversary was a year and a half ago. You will be celebrating your 27th this October. Look at your wedding certificate!” No! It can’t be true. How can you forget a 25th anniversary? BUT WE DID! Did we think it was our 23rd when it was our 25th? Did we even go out to dinner? Did we say, “Let’s stay home and watch TV?” How on earth did this happen? I looked at our wedding certificate. Of course, and she was right.
This had to be our “Ultimate Senior Moment” or probably the ultimate senior moments are yet to come. We don’t know! But with tickets and reservations in hand, we are going to celebrate our whatever anniversary this June in Capri. With all of us at risk at this time of our lives, and as long as we can celebrate life, we will. I’m filled with gratitude! Festeggiamo!! (Let’s Celebrate) ![]() I am so lucky! I was invited to speak at Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona. My good friend, Lynne, came with me. Well, we have had the best time, but we have never, not for one minute known where we were going!! We have been lost every time we leave a building .We can’t find the next building nor, can we stop laughing. First of all, this is the most wonderful place! They have hundreds and hundreds of acres. How did we think we could just get up the first morning and take our own walk and find our way? Well we couldn’t! We could not find our way back to the Ranch property, let alone our rooms! We walked for hours in a development called Canyon Estates and felt we would never have food or water again. We couldn’t stop laughing!! We finally came upon a man who helped us get back to the property and then it took us another hour to find our rooms. It turns out we are right near not only each other but also the Club House and the spa. Who knew?
The classes and treatments they offer are amazing! Everything from a talk about your dreams to a treatment called Watsu. If you have never have that particular treatment , find out where they have them in your town and get it. You climb into a warm pool (inside a building) and a teacher takes you for an hour and massages you and moves your body all around. This is all done in 90 degree water. No talking. There’s music in the background I felt somewhere between, I had died and gone to heaven. I was just born in my mother’s arms. I don’t think I will ever forget it. Now, to address the aging part of this trip. I was here thirty years ago. I remember I ran from class to class , hiking, running, finding every kind of dancing class there was. This time I went to meditation, had nice walks, got my feet checked, did Watsu and hung out. The closest I got to a dancing class was when Lynne and I were lying at the pool and I looked at my watch and saw it was ten minutes after the hour, and said “There goes Zumba”! And you know what? I didn’t even feel guilty. It’s a great place to just restore your energy too. And that’s what I did! I hope I can find the desk tomorrow to check out , If not, I just might stay here forever!
